Gilt furniture
Went for a wander around the shops and boutiques in Chiswick at the weekend. Just love it there-the sun was shining and people were chilling outside the cafes enjoying a perfect autumn day.
While I was there I popped into the new Graham and Green boutique which is one of my favourite home shops. I can always find something quirky and original in there and needless to say, I walk out with something that I absolutely must have every time I go.
Then I strolled into Fouberts who have west London’s biggest ice cream selection, and ordered the most enormous ice cream (Turkish delight!!! Heaven!! ) and I got to thinking about ‘E tail’.
People ask us why we don’t have a shop and why we don’t have a brochure. And here was the perfect example; we sell identical sofas and chairs to the ones that I’d just seen in Graham and Green but at much lower prices, in fact our customers save about £150 on Gold Gilt Emmanuel Chair chair and over £400 on an identical bed. We can bring customers furniture at these incredible prices because we keep our overheads low. We don’t pay high retail rents and so we can pass on these savings.
So I suppose what I’m trying to say is that you can spend a lovely autumn day strolling in the park or sitting in a riverside pub and then go and order your budget priced sofa online at midnight.
Or you can order the same sofa, for much more money, but be able to see the great quality before you buy, in a shop.
Personally, I like to do both. I like wandering around the shops window shopping but I like online prices even more.
